Help Me See - Living Through Seeing

If you only take one kind of photo, you only have one kind of memory to look back on. Capturing the not so happy moments can be crucial in helping us process, heal, and recognize how far we’ve come in the full scope of our lives when we feel ready to reflect.

This is about considering the possibility to process a moment in a different way. And in turn, giving your future self the opportunity to reflect on the fullness of your life.

An archive of one dimensional photographs of happy times can be disorienting when you’re looking back on your life.

Personally, the benefits of looking back on “sad” photos has been healing, given me perspective on my growth, and greater compassion for myself.

PROMPT:
Maybe next time you’re in a somber moment you take a photograph to see how it feels. You don’t even have to look at it for who even knows how long. But sit with how it feels to know you have this moment in time documented.
