Psychologist, Trauma Therapist, Yoga Teacher
I’m Anouk Prop (1980) and I’m a psychologist, trauma therapist, registered Yoga Alliance (E-RYT500 YACEP) yoga teacher and reiki master and work in a holistic way on the cutting edge of body and mind. As a professional and as a person I focus on the growth and development of others and myself. I combine psychotherapy, trauma healing, yoga & energy work through their very compatible aspects and stress on the non-medical methods in healing for adults as well as children in making a journey towards themselves. Postgraduate education in trauma healing (Somatic Experience, NARM, Bodynamic and Polyvagal Theory of Deb Dana) in combination with yoga and energy work put into practice, I have a broad range of experience in the field in different settings, varying from working with children and adults with a history of abuse, addiction, anxiety disorders, depression, burn-out, but also physical accidents and other traumatic events like war, refugee problems or natural disasters.
Along the way I’ve completed teacher trainings in Power Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga, Trauma Sensitive Yoga en Y12SR (Yoga of 12 Step Recovery), pranayama, yoga philosophy en yoga therapy. In addition I followed several trainings and workshops in the field of psychology and awareness, like Mindfulness, CBT, visualization & meditation techniques, Reiki master and energy healing). I have worked independently for many years, in my own mind & body practice and as a free lancer for rehab clinics, yoga studios and mental health institutions in the Netherlands as well as in developing countries.
I encounter people with deeply rooted tension, trauma or blockages on a level, which goes beyond cognition and show that holistic healing can open doors in this. My mindful approach is focused on empowerment and guiding people towards their own unique essence in a safe and calm environment by gently inviting them to look in the beautiful, though sometimes confronting mirror life provides, taken by my hand of compassion, positivity and enthusiasm.
My heart is my leading anchor in realizing my dreams. I left the academic world (and my PhD) after a while to really work with people in an authentic way. After running my own mind & body practice in the Netherlands successfully for many years, I decided to spread my wings and left abroad to enhance my knowledge and experience. For five years I lived and worked in different places, varying from supporting orphans in trauma healing in India, being a studio manager of a yoga NGO in Phnom Penh to bring the healing power of yoga into the local communities and working as psychologist, yoga teacher and life enhancement mentor in a rehab and wellness retreat centers in Thailand.
